What is Data Banking and how does it work?

All MATE mobile plans come with data banking so you can keep your unused data each month!

Let’s say you are on a 150GB mobile plan – in this case, you would start your monthly cycle with 150GB of data. At the end of the month, you’ve only used 50GB of your allocated data.

Instead of losing the remaining 100GB of mobile data, it will effectively get added to your “bank” when you need it.

You would now have a total of 250GB of data (150GB for this month + 100GB of “banked” data that you didn’t use from last month).

All mobile plans include a data bank of either 500GB or 1000GB, depending on the plan.

Any data in your data bank is forfeited if your mobile plan is downgraded to a lower-cost monthly plan, or if you move from a 5G-enabled plan to a 4G plan. Your banked data will remain if you upgrade to a higher-cost monthly plan, or switch from a 4G plan to a 5G plan.

To check any available data in your data bank, you can:

Download the myMATE app on your iPhone or Android device;

What is Volte

Voice over LTE (VoLTE) is an enhanced voice calling technology for smartphones – enabling you to make calls over the 4G network. You’ll experience clearer phone calls and faster call connection times with VoLTE.

Phone calls using the 4G network
Previously, when you made a phone call using MATE’s mobile service, this was done over the 3G network, meaning that when you dialled a number, you would drop down to 3G even if you were in a 4G coverage area. VoLTE uses 4G to make phone calls for clearer and less congested calls.

Voice calls & data together on the 4G network
With VoLTE, you no longer have to choose between browsing the internet and staying connected on a call.

Advanced cellular data options on VoLTE mobiles allow you to browse, check emails and even stream videos while on a VoLTE call, using the same data network for more efficient multitasking.

Wi-Fi Calling is now available on compatible devices, so you can keep your conversations going in more places. Better still, calling  features such as Voicemail, call waiting or call conference will still work as normal on Wi-Fi calling, so you won’t miss out on important messages or calls.

Phone calls using a Wi-Fi network
Even with our great mobile network coverage, there are times when Wi-Fi Calling comes in handy. With a suitable Wi-Fi connection, you’ll be able to make voice calls even in areas with little or weak mobile signal, such as indoors or in some rural areas. And Wi-Fi Calling gives you another way to stay connected if there is an outage on the mobile network.
